Support to local organizations

As part of the commitment with communities in Marcala, we have contributed in: Land donations and materials for building schools. Scholarships for two elementary students. Scholar materials and economic support for activities during the year. Energy supply and basic medicine provision for the health community center.

Housing

Café Marcala provides housing with sanitary conditions to coffee pickers inside the coffee farms to lodge them during the harvest season.

Recreation

Within the coffee farm we have soccer fields that are use to held football tournaments. Partners and employees use this area for recreation.

Water Sources

Coffee farms have multiple water sources that are managed with conservation techniques to protect hydro resources guarantying vegetative coverage, soil conservation and good management of coffee wastes.

With the purpose of diversifying the production of the coffee farms, new activities are been implemented: Cattle (Milk production), planting trees for commercial purposes and some fruit trees.

Beautiful Landscapes

In the outdoor surroundings of the farms, waterfalls, water slopes and many varieties of wildflowers can be enjoyed.

Forest Reserves

It is an important premise for Café Marcala to preserve the forest within the coffee farms were giant pine trees, “Higos” and “Liquidambar” can be observed.

Birds, Insects and Wild animals

Among the exuberant flora, diverse fauna such as: birds, insects, wild animals can be observed and also discover what makes them unique. Some of the species are: “guarda barrancos”, “gorriones”, “chorchas”, woodpeckers, butterflies, squirrels, turtles, among others.
